Discovery Middle School offers a jazz band as an after school elective. It is not offered during the day as a class. We hope that hosting this group after school allows anyone and everyone who wants to join be part of our jazz band!
Students who participate in DMS Jazz Band need to have at least 1 full year of band experience as a prerequisite. This is an advanced level program.
The Jazz Band contains the following non-Concert Band instruments:
Drum Set
Electric Guitar
Electric Bass
String Bass
Piano
Performance opportunities:
- Annual DMS Jazz Brunch
- “Panther Prowl” – Rising 6th grade tour of DMS
- School PTA meetings and assemblies
- ABA District 1 – Solo and Ensemble (Competition)
